Nothing in the world prepares you for life.  We are born, we develop, we grow up, grow old, with most of us never having contemplated the fact that this is the only life we are given.  Living on this Earth here today, we will never witness the course humanity will take to the stars, we will never see our descendants conquer space or conquer the breaking of the chains of time that bind us to this planet.  We have to settle for the here and now because we don't have the choice to awaken again in 1000 years to a new humanity, devoid of our problems and steaming full speed ahead into the great unknown.  Our lives, although 3 times longer on average than those of our ancestors who preceded us 15,000 years ago, is only a flicker compared to the lives which will be lived by our great great great grandchildren.  That is why we should make the most and the best of the limited time we got, to enjoy the primitive world we are thrust into and know that by living our lives fully, completely, passionately, with purpose, we are preparing the road for the next generation to explore the universe in ways we never can imagine.
